The whining noise is caused by the fan that is cast into the primary clutch rubbing on the plastic housing of the clutch cover. They could have put a clutch on it for a minimal fee. Install the clutch spreader tool from your tool kit into the driven clutch and turn clockwise to spread the sheaves. Polaris has determined that on some of these off-road vehicles, the clutch inlet duct covers used as an aid during manufacturing may not have been removed prior to shipment, potentially resulting in a fire hazard. The clutch is a key part of every snowmobile. We did, however discover that not only is our cover warped (thus the rubbing and noise) it is also completely worn thru in places. This kit helps dissipate heat, helping to cool the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system. 100 miles later the clutch level felt noticeably hard to pull, and within about half an hour the cable would not go anywhere, and the clutch could only be disengaged by putting the bike in neutral. But if you go this route, make sure to hit everything with some rubbing alcohol afterwards, as some brake cleaners have chemicals in them that will cause the belt to slip.
